JIM THOMPSON’S HOUSE
The House of Jim Thompson, the American businessman largely responsible for the global popularity of Thai silk, is a must see. In a sun dappled tropical garden beside a pungent canal, six traditional teak houses brim with the art and antiques he rescued from around Asia from limestone Buddha torsos to a group tours led by silk-clad female guides introduce you to these exquisite treasures and the life of the men himself. There’s also a shop selling his trademark designs, an art gallery and café.
